You were known for being overly cheerful, and ignorant of the outside world.

No one really minded that you didn't know what was going on. They knew you understood there was a war, and that people were dying. But you never truly understood what that meant, until recently.

You went to visit one of the camps in one of the countries the revolutionaries were stationed at. You had seen injured people before, sure, but this was on a whole other level. People you talked to before they left were sitting on beds with missing limbs, or were dying.

The ones that could talk to you made jokes about their situation, as if it didn't matter. That bothered you, but you could brush it off and smile and joke back with them. It wasn't until three days before you left that your whole world changed.

We were attacked, and you were caught in the middle of it. You were never suppose to get so close to the front before, and to be honest if they knew this would probably happen they would have never sent you. They tried to protect you, and each one that did fell to the ground dead.

You watched the life they had just before the battle go out like someone's blown out a candle. Their body was still warm, but the fire was now gone.

You were terrified, no that was an understatement, you were cowering in a corner, to scared and confused to do anything. It wasn't until the battle was over that you realized that you should have helped them.

You went back early, Everyone greeted you and asked if you were okay once you returned, but they knew you weren't, they could tell by your eyes. You sat up in your room a week later, it was really late at night when someone knocked on your door.

“(Name)?” You heard someone call through the door.
“Come in...” You called back, you sounded tired whenever you spoke since you've come back. The door opens and reveals Koala, she must have just gotten back. She stood in the doorway for a moment before walking in and shutting the door behind her.

“I heard what happened...” She started, she gave you a small smile when you meet her gaze, but it falters a bit when she notices the tears.
“I felt so useless...” You muttered and you wiped away the tears that fall down your cheeks. She walks over to you and gives you a hug.
“Oooh (Name)...they didn't know that was going to happen if they did they wouldn't have sent you..” She says, patting the top of your head. You hug her back and cry.

“I should have helped but I just froze..!” You sobbed quietly.
“You couldn't have done anything you don't know how to fight..” She points out and you look up at her, she looked surprised at the amount of determination in your eyes.
“Then I'll learn!” You said, your voice sounded so soft and weak, but so sure at the same time. She didn't know how to respond at first, she saw you a month ago, so innocent so ignorant so happy.

She knows, with a sad smile of her lips, that the girl you were was gone, maybe not completely, but it was obvious that you had lost a large amount of your innocence when you watched those people die. But after a month of training your smile came back, sure it wasn't the sweet and ignorant smile you had before. But even so, your smile still lit up their world.
